Jennifer Hohenberger Interview

One of the first things you notice about Jennifer Hohenberger is her contagious smile. Her motto is "Professional, fun and awesome service." She understands that purchasing a home is a major step in a person's life, and is determined to make the process as enjoyable as possible. Since about 98% of her clients come from referrals from satisfied customers, it is evident that she has succeeded in her mission!

An entrepreneur for most of her life, Jennifer has always been in the sales and service industry. She started her first business, a pet and house sitting business, at age eleven. Upon graduating from college, she went to Real Estate school and got her license at the relatively young age of 21. At that time in the industry, when the average age was mid-forty, Jen was perceived as quite the dynamo!

Another challenge she faced at the time was the negative public perception of Real Estate agents. She felt that it was difficult to gain the trust of her clients. Her first broker gave her a great piece of advice, "Your clients won't care how much you know until they know how much you care!" She jumped in with both feet, working seven days a week. Jen was determined to be available when others weren't, and to be sure her clients knew she would give them the best service possible. In her second year in business, she was named Mentor of the Year, and was finding that most of her business was coming from referrals, which has continued for the eleven years she has been in business.

Jennifer specializes in residential Real Estate, and while she enjoys all aspects of that business, there are some areas she is particularly fond of.

photo of happy coupleShe has a lot of fun with first time buyers, and strives to educate them as they go through the process of purchasing their home. She stresses that she not just looking for a sale, but rather for an ongoing relationship where she can be a resource for her clients on everything from where to find a good plumber to suggestions on where to go out for a good meal.

When her grandmother had a stroke and needed to move to an assisted living facility, Jennifer realized the increasing need for a good Real Estate agent to help seniors who are downsizing. "I never knew until then what a difficult process this can be for these people. I really want to help them make a smooth transition." In order to do that, Jennifer took a course to become a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES.)

She also likes to work with buyers of new construction, pointing out how important it is for them to have their own agent when looking at potential homes in new developments, and not to rely on the agents working for the builders. She helps them choose the features that will benefit them when they resell their property.

Jennifer understands that "a professional is always in school," and has earned in addition to her SRES: ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative); e-PRO (Internet Savvy); GRI (Graduate of the Real Estate Institute). She is currently working on her CRS (Certified Residential Specialist).

She is a member of the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce, Women's Referral Network of Chester County, Net Care.

When asked what she would like to be doing five years from now, Jennifer said she would be satisfied with still working in Real Estate. "I do a lot of research for my clients to help them find their home. I really study them to get a sense of who they are and what will work for them. When they walk into a house and it is a match it is such a thrill for them, as well as for me. That is why I love what I do.
